ex-pirate & zookeeper forever

UI & visual designer always

Ain't no passing craze. For the last three years I have spent eight hours a day working on designs, coding, animations, and everything in between. And I don't see myself stopping any time soon. I love it more every. single. day.

Now about that ex-pirate/zookeeper thing... just keep scrolling.

If you can't wait to find out, jump there now. Otherwise, next is my work!

I am a UI designer mostly, but of course crossover to UX and product arena as well. My talents include deciphering puzzles, organizing tons of information, and seeing the big picture while noticing the small details. My favorite tool at the moment is Figma - my goodness, you can do anything in Figma! My 50/50 brain loves to integrate technology with art in order to create user experiences that transcend the 'usual.' Great design comes with great responsibility - that is, to understand users and 'wow' them.

Before becoming a digital designer, I worked as a pirate. Not in the real sense, yet kinda. I rigged ships (yep, the one from Pirates of the Caribbean). It taught me the power of seeing things from every angle - on deck you things right in front of you (the details), aloft you see in wide range (the overall picture). I still harbor quite a love for that Disney ship and my crew; it was a true collaborative experience.

My love for animals has now grown to a small zoo at home. I take in the strays (cats), the fosters (dogs), and the rehabbers (opposums) and have been known to save a fly from a web. I love to lay in a hammock with the pups, read a book, or fiddle in the garden. I'm in love with Firenze - the city in Italy, not the character in Harry Potter - and plan to live there again for the rest of my days.

Ok, back to work. I'm looking for a remote UI/UX designer position, if you know of one.

What I do

Design

It's all about inspiration and imagination.
My inspiration may come from
visuals, experience, and/or things I hear,
leading to creation of a design esthetic that sparks interest and provides enticing interfaces customized for a specific audience.
Gotta look at things from multiple angles to see different perspectives.

Development

Constantly aspiring to write cleaner code, be ever more efficient, and figure out how to bring designs and ideas to life.
Always thinking,
“There’s gotta be a way to do that,”
because figuring out the puzzle is half the fun.
